As a Principal Associate in Software Risk, you will serve as a vital component of our risk management team, ensuring that our operations align with industry standards and regulatory requirements while optimizing business processes. Your expertise will be pivotal in enhancing our enterprise risk management practices across Capital One, where technology meets service in a complex, highly regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as the primary risk manager for designated business areas, especially focusing on Capital One Software and Emerging Payments, utilizing your knowledge to enhance processes and minimize risk.
  • Facilitate essential risk management initiatives, including risk and control self-assessments, product risk evaluations, and issue resolution processes.
  • Analyze business and risk data to proactively identify emerging risks and improvement opportunities.
  • Stay informed on regulatory updates and industry trends, assessing their potential impact on risk management efforts.
  • Participate in risk management forums to contribute to ongoing enhancements in risk and project practices.
  • Consult on the development and upkeep of policies, standards, and procedures as they relate to risk management.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to achieve strategic goals and foster effective communication.
  • Manage program-related tasks, ensuring robust collaboration within the team and with stakeholders.
  • Prioritize multiple initiatives to drive business value while advancing risk management objectives.

Basic Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certification.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in risk management, technology, cyber, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of project, program, or process management experience interacting with diverse internal business clients.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent military experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in risk management, technology, cyber, or related fields.
  • 3+ years of experience in IT Risk Management.
  • 1 year of experience in the Financial Services industry.
  • Background in controls development, management, and reporting.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective leadership and interactions across levels.
  • Proven problem-solving and analytical abilities to adapt to changing priorities and timelines.
