Primary Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Instructor (Part-Time) POSITION: Part-Time Primary Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Instructor: Center for Corporate and Community Education; Lawrence Campus (414 Common Street)
SCHEDULE: Flexible schedule to be determined based on instructor availability, as well as host site availability. Further details around typical scheduling and expectations for instructor will be found below.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Primary Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Instructor will be responsible for delivering the theoretical, practical and clinical components of the hybrid nursing assistant program. This instructor should anticipate teaching a total of 10 students per cohort with support from a secondary instructor if enrollment overflows to 13-20 students. This position will report to the CNA Program Coordinator and serve as a valuable team member in collaborating, planning, and managing the unique needs of each monthly CNA cohort. This staff member is considered a thought partner within the smaller NECC based team for these CNA training courses. They should be ready to consistently provide feedback, contribute to program development ideas and troubleshoot challenges alongside the Program Coordinator.
This Instructor must be comfortable with both in-person and virtual instruction. Presence at clinicals is required which are currently being held in Newburyport, MA. Skills Labs are currently being held on NECC Lawrence Campus. The ability to work occasional weekend shifts and facilitate virtual classes during evenings is preferred.
Common example of a monthly schedule is as follows:Virtual lecture instruction - typically 2-hour blocks, timing is flexible to instructor preference. 10 hours total.
Instruction at clinical rotations - 8-hour day shifts (3). 24 hours total.
Instruction at "skills lab" - 8-hour day or evenings shifts (3). 24 hours total, Saturday availability preferred.
General cohort preparation and management - 8 hours self-reported time
Job Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:NOTE: Unless otherwise noted, all required qualifications must be met by date of hire.
- Current MA state RN licensure
- Minimum two (2) years' experience as a nurse with a minimum of one (1) year experience working in a long-term care facility
- At least one (1) year of experience in lesson planning, lesson delivery, student evaluation and remediation in a health care setting as an in-service coordinator, staff educator, or other health personnel instructor; or the equivalent of 24 contact hours in programs that meet continuing education standards
- CPR certification required
- Technical knowledge and expertise in long-term care
- Excellent verbal and written communications
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:- Adult Education experience
- Bilingual (Spanish/English)
- Experience working with and supporting a culturally diverse population

Additional Information:
SALARY: $64/hour, non-benefited position. Maximum hours are 66 per cohort month or 16.5 hours weekly.
Up to 10 cohorts per academic year are planned per calendar year.
