Functions Responsible for reporting to the Preventative Maintenance Supervisor for assisting with conducting the preventative, predictive maintenance of OPC equipment to include mechanical, electrical and instrumentation equipment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Because Eastern Shipbuilding is continually growing to meet the needs of our customers, the essential duties and responsibilities may be different than described. Conduct preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of plant machinery, mechanical, electronic, electrical, and instrumentation equipment. Conduct Preventative Maintenance on various shifts as directed. Work with outside contractor on maintenance work. Request necessary equipment materials, rental equipment, or contracted repairs to support conduct of Preventative Maintenance. Support reports and inspection records that identify faulty equipment. Perform skilled maintenance work. Adhere to prescribed safety rules and regulations. Observe safe work practices. Perform other duties necessary to accomplish objectives. Supervisory Responsibilities Will not directly and/or indirectly supervise employees assigned to the Preventative Maintenance Team and Contractors. Travel is primarily local, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be required. Reporting Relationship This position will report to the OPC Preventative Maintenance Supervisor. Job Requirements Qualifications Education/Experience: High school diploma or equivalent experience. Experience: Over Two (2) years of experience in the maintenance and repair of shipboard electrical, mechanical or instrument equipment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Skills: Working knowledge of electrical, mechanical or instrumentation trades. Working knowledge of the tools, equipment and materials used in maintaining shipboard electrical, mechanical or instrument equipment. Working knowledge of electronic data processing concepts. Ability to read and understand blueprints, schematics, drawings, and service manuals. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Ability to keep records. Skilled in the electrical, mechanical or instrumentation trades. Computer literate - working knowledge of Microsoft Office Behavioral Attributes: Requires the ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance. Integrity, flexibility/adaptability, initiative, interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and multi-tasking. Maintain the confidential integrity of details pertaining to Eastern Shipbuilding Group. Working Conditions: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee may be exposed to the risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the environment is low to moderate, such as in an office environment. Physical Activity/Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This job will operate in multiple environments, including a professional office environment, and Shipboard during the production, outfit, test, and delivery phases of each Ship. Employees must be able to work in a ship production environment, including climbing, entering tanks and voids, etc., in all weather conditions. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
