Hours: 10am-6pm (Monday through Friday; every other weekend)
Rate: $18.00-$25.00 per hour (depending on experience)
GENERAL SUMMARY: The Prep Cook is responsible for the preparation of all food items as per standardized recipes and facility menu for the residents.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES:Essential Job Duties: - Prepare all cold food items, as needed.
- Be able to read and comprehend standardized recipes.
- Assist with preparation for facility events and parties, as needed.
- Must be skilled in using various equipment, such as slicers, knives and grill (if needed)
- Recording times and temperatures in the dietary logs.
Other Duties: - Maintains assigned workstation in a safe and sanitary condition.
- Maintains acceptable standards of personal hygiene and complies with the department dress code.
- Attends in-service training and education sessions as assigned.
- Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by either supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS: - Ability to understand and follow instructions in English, communicate effectively, and perform simple arithmetic. Ability to understand measurements and conversions.
- A minimum of one year of prep cook experience in a culinary setting
- Ability to plan and organize work, to interpret instructions, recipes, specifications and standards.
- Knowledge of kitchen equipment operations and maintenance. Some knowledge of nutrition and diet.
- Time management is a must, as well as the ability to work with others.
- Be flexible and organized. Open to feedback.
- The ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- ServSafe certification is preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS: Must be able to stand or walk for up to 8 hours per day. Must be able to bend, stoop, and stretch frequently throughout the day. Moderate to heavy physical effort needed. Manual dexterity for preparing food. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. independently. May be exposed to extreme temperatures (freezers and stoves-range burners) for short periods of time. May be exposed to industrial cleaning chemicals.
