Job Location: New York, NY
Event Dates: February 13, 2025 - April 30, 2025
Work Schedule: - It is mandatory to work Wednesday through Sunday, but it may also include some Mondays and Tuesdays.
Primary responsibility - Prepare cold and hot sections of the kitchen service line;
- Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes, using various kitchen utensils and equipment;
- Inspect food preparation and serving areas to ensure observance of safe, sanitary food-handling practices;
- Carve and trim meats such as beef, veal, ham, pork, and lamb for hot or cold service or sandwiches;
- Stocks and maintains sufficient levels of food products at line stations to ensure a smooth service period;
- Follows proper plate presentation and garnish set up for all dishes;
- Assists others in closing the kitchen. Participate in the teardown and set up of the kitchen;
The ideal candidate will - 2 years of hands-on kitchen experience or an effective combination of education and experience;
- Culinary skills and techniques for preparing small and large quantities of food;
- Must have a current food handler certificate;
- Ability to handle and prepare a variety of raw and cooked foods;
- Strong understanding and compliance with standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, policies and procedures;
- Maintains a clean and sanitary workstation area including tables, shelves, grills, broilers, fryers, pasta cookers, sauté burners, convection oven, flat top range and refrigeration equipment;
- Possession of a Cooking degree is an asset;
- Ability to work well under pressure and take direction;
- Motivated team player with good initiative and problem-solving abilities;
- Assist in other areas as needed and assigned by another Kitchen Manager and Head Chef;
- Available to work 5 days a week, including weekends, early mornings, and late nights during the entire city run;
- Reasonable knowledge of English and the language of the Market;
- Preferably able to obtain a Certificate of Fitness for Temporary Indoor / Outdoor Place of Assembly Safety Personnel (F-04) - Preferred.
Physical Demands: - This job may require extended periods of walking, standing, bending, lifting, twisting and kneeling for up to 8 hours.
- May also lift up to 50lbs.
Uniform: - Clean plain t-shirt or chef jacket.
- Non-slip kitchen shoes with socks. (Safety shoes during setup and teardown)
- Hair net or hair cover if long.
