An esteemed contractor in the area is looking for a Preconstruction Manager/Estimator. This contractor has a backlog of diverse commercial projects, local to the area, that stretch over the next couple years. The Preconstruction Manager will be a cornerstone for the company and an integral part of the leadership team.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to perform work accurately, completely, and in a timely manner.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to deliver effective presentations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Advanced understanding of drawings, specifications, and construction estimating software.
- Knowledge of construction management processes, including self-perform and labor productivity.
- Understanding of project processes, field operations, and trade-specific scopes of work.
- Familiarity with MBE/WBE/SBA regulations.
- Ability to prepare General Requirements estimates.
- Proficiency in construction technology such as Lens, Revit, and/or Destiny.
- Knowledge of Lean principles and methodologies.
Strong relationship-building and collaboration skills, internally and externally.
Preconstruction Manager Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture or Engineering, or a combination of education and relevant experience.
- 5 years of applicable estimating and/or project management experience.
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, estimating & take-off software (CostX or similar), BIM tools (Revit, Assemble, etc.), and scheduling software (Primavera or similar).
Working Environment
- Must hold a valid and unrestricted driver's license.
- Ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
- Availability to travel overnight and work non-traditional hours as needed.
- Primarily an office environment but may require visits to construction sites under extreme conditions (hot or cold).
- Frequent activities include sitting, viewing computer screens, and occasional standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
