NEDHSA is a designated approved National Health Service Corps (NHSC) site. Clinicians who work at NHSC-approved sites are eligible to apply to the NHSC Loan Repayment Program to pay off student loans. 2-year Full-Time Clinical Practice: NHSC will pay up to $50,000 for an initial 2 years of full-time clinical practice to clinicians. (Full-time clinical practice is defined as no less than 40 hours per week, for a minimum of 45 weeks per year). Processes admissions, transfers and discharges. Conducts and documents data base to include psychosocial and physical screening of patient and/or family. Assists in developing nursing plan of care. Prepares monthly nursing reports, charts, and other medical records. Reviews accident and seizure reports. Provides individual health counseling concerning diet, prenatal care, family planning, VD, and TB control under the direct supervision of Registered Nurse. Documents activities in service records. Assesses patient immunization status and administers appropriate immunizations. Performs laboratory procedures such as hemoglobin, lead screening, electrophoresis, urinalysis, hearing, vision, and measurements. Applies and changes dressings as assigned. Uses medical equipment, i.e., intermittent suction and continuous suction machine. Maintains routine enteral feedings. May act as co-therapist in a group setting. May instruct staff in basic nursing techniques. May orient and train Practical Nurses of a lower level. May schedule appointments for dental, eye, speech, language, and hearing care.
