This position will be located in Des Plaines, IL.

The Leidos Civil Group is seeking a dynamic Power Systems Engineer to be part of the National Airspace System Integration Support Contract (NISC IV) team.

In this role, you will assist the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) Central Service Area (CSA) NISC support team, ensuring exceptional service to the FAA.

As part of our CSA Infrastructure Engineering Center, you will support a variety of NAS Infrastructure programs and projects, including electrical generator replacements. Your expertise will ensure accurate designs, products, and timely project completion across the CSA.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and plan electrical systems for various FAA facilities.
  • Conduct on-site surveys to create scalable designs and detailed reports.
  • Draft sketches to outline installations in existing or new facilities with precise specifications.
  • Test and analyze power systems, participating in construction and final inspections.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to resolve design or implementation challenges.
  • Manage design components with multi-disciplinary teams, producing necessary documentation.
  • Create Microstation-generated construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Coordinate Integrated Risk Management Checklists (IRMC) and project risk registers to ensure ORM compliance.
  • Oversee Work Permits for lead and asbestos management during construction.
  • Facilitate construction meetings with stakeholders for project coordination.
  • Plan, schedule, and manage construction activities to meet project milestones.
  • Participate in on-site testing and restoration activities.
  • Maintain periodic project updates for team and stakeholders.
  • Oversee multiple projects to ensure successful and timely completion.
  • Review contractor design and construction submissions.
  • Conduct internal design reviews of FAA power projects.
  • Track and close JAI project exceptions efficiently.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field with 4-8 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in designing electrical distribution systems for commercial, industrial, or government facilities, with expertise in standby generators and UPS.
  • Familiarity with power system analysis software (EDSA Power Analytics, SKM Systems Analysis) and arc flash studies.
  • Proficient in conducting and interpreting power studies.
  • Strong skills in MS Office and engineering scheduling tools.
  • Knowledge of AUTOCAD/MICROSTATION.
  • Effective communication and technical writing abilities.
  • Organized in data gathering and analysis.
  • Experience developing project plans, schedules, and estimates.
  • Eligibility to obtain FAA Public Trust (U.S. citizenship or Green Card holder with three years of residency required).
  • Must pass a Drug Screen prior to employment.
