The lab's research program lies at the intersect of structural biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, and RNA biology. The primary goal will be to elucidate the mechanisms of gene regulation by characterizing multi-component machines responsible for RNA processing, modification, and decay. Under the general guidance of the Principle Investigator: Develop and apply hybrid structural biology with biochemistry to uncover the structural organization of RNA processing, modification, and decay complexes Elucidate the regulation of multi-component RNA processing machines by applying enzymology, molecular biology and cell biology Establish and optimize lab protocols for new techniques and assays Assist with graduate student training and mentorship Present research findings at institutional, regional, and/or national scientific meetings Maintain good communication with the lab leader and members Outstanding Benefits Package Working at UB comes with benefits that exceed salary alone. Minimum Qualifications Doctoral degree or the equivalent degree from a foreign university. All degree requirements, including dissertation, must be completed. Appointment may be used as a familiarization period for researchers to acquire new skills and research methodology due to limited professional employment experience in the field of research or scholarly study. Experience in protein biochemistry, structural biology, or nucleic acid research Preferred Qualifications Four years of laboratory experience in protein biochemistry, structural biology, or nucleic acid research. Physical Demands Salary Range $47,500 - $65,000 Additional Salary Information The salary range reflects our good faith and reasonable estimate of the possible compensation at the time of posting, the role and associated responsibilities, and the experience, education, and training of the selected candidate.
