Job Summary/DescriptionThe Post-Award and Research Compliance Analyst will be responsible for post-award sponsored project management, including but not limited to monitoring sponsored project activities, issuing and monitoring subawards, providing training on a variety of regulatory compliance topics, monitoring compliance with both financial and non-financial award terms and conditions, tracking reports, and providing general support to faculty and staff working on research and sponsored awards.
Typical Duties/Job Duties - Non-Financial Post-Award Project Management and Support: Supports project directors/principal investigators in managing their sponsored projects, including but not limited to: monitoring key deadlines, reviewing project reports, issuing and monitoring subawards, preparing substantive change and no-cost extension requests, and facilitating project closeout.
- Financial Monitoring and Support: Monitors sponsored project budgets and provides regular expenditure updates to financial managers. Answers questions regarding allowability and allocability of costs on sponsored awards. Oversees effort reporting and certification processes. As needed, provides information to the Controller's Office in support of financial reporting activities.
- Research and Ethical Compliance: Working with the Director of Sponsored Projects, ensures compliance with a wide range of state and federal research and ethical compliance requirements. Provides and/or facilitates access to training on research and sponsored project compliance topics. Maintains training completion records.
- Facilitates Research and Other Sponsored Project Activities: Provides recommendations for navigating and using campus resources. Advocates for services on behalf of research faculty and staff. Provides training and guidance on university procedures for a wide range of areas/topics. Creates crosswalks between institutional and federal/state agency regulations.
- Professional Growth and Development: Stays current on applicable state and federal rules and regulations as well as professional (research administration) publications and literature; participates in appropriate online forums and professional association(s), and engages in relevant training; attends professional conferences. Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Knowledge of federal and state grant rules and regulations, including but not limited to those found in the Code of Federal Regulations, the Texas Grant Management Standards
- Knowledge of federal and state research compliance rules and regulations, including but not limited to those pertaining to the protection of human and animal subjects in research, conflicts of interest, responsible and ethical conduct of research, and research security
- Skilled in oral and written communication with a wide range of constituencies
- Skilled in project and budget management
- Ability to coordinate multiple projects and meet internally- and externally- set deadlines
- Ability to work accurately with attention to detail
- Ability to problem solve and independently address challenging inquiries in a customer-centered manner
Minimum Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in any field
- At least two years' experience in research/grant administration or a related field
- Certified or eligible to obtain certification as a research administrator (CRA) within three years of hire
Preferred Qualifications - Graduate degree in any field
- Prior experience in an institution of higher education
Physical Requirements - Requires prolonged periods of sitting
- After-hours work may be required to meet deadlines
