Position Overview:

A Swimming Pool Manager oversees the daily operations, safety, maintenance, and customer service of a swimming pool facility. The following is a comprehensive job description for a Swimming Pool Manager:

Key Responsibilities:

Operations Management
  • Oversee daily pool and concession stand operations including opening/closing procedures, safety checks, and general facility maintenance.
  • Ensure that the pool water is properly treated and monitored according to safety regulations and health codes.
  • Assist with managing the pool's schedule, coordinating public swim times, classes, events, and rentals.
  • Ensure that the concession stand is fully stocked and ready for operation 15 minutes prior to the pool opening for the day.
Safety and Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with local health and safety regulations, including lifeguard certification, chemical handling, and emergency response protocols.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments to identify and address potential hazards.
  • Oversees lifeguards and other pool staff in safety procedures, emergency drills, and customer service.
Staff Management
  • Assist with coordinating staff schedules and ensuring proper staffing levels during operational hours.
  • Assist with providing training and development opportunities for pool staff.
Customer Service
  • Maintain a high level of customer service, addressing customer inquiries, concerns, and feedback promptly and professionally.
  • Ensure that the facility is clean, welcoming, and conducive to a positive visitor experience.
Administrative Tasks
  • Maintain accurate records of patron pool attendance, safety incidents, and staff certifications.
  • Assist with developing and implementing pool policies and procedures, updating them as needed.
  • Run end of day register reports and reconcile reports with concession sales
  • Complete daily deposit forms for concession sales
Rule Enforcement
  • Enforce pool rules, including restrictions on diving, running, or other unsafe behaviors. Provide guidance to ensure a safe environment.
Public Relations
  • Interact with the public in a professional and courteous manner. Provide information about safety rules and answer questions from visitors.
Maintenance and Cleanliness
  • Ensure the cleanliness of the pool area, including checking for hazards, cleaning debris, and maintaining rescue equipment.
Team Collaboration:
  • Work with other lifeguards and staff to coordinate emergency responses and ensure a safe environment. Participate in regular training and drills.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent
Experience
  • Previous experience in a supervisory or management role at a swimming pool or aquatic facility preferred.
  • Experience in lifeguard training, pool operations, and customer service preferred.
Skills
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work under pressure.
  • Detail-oriented and able to maintain high safety standards.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs
  • Ability to stand and walk for up to 8 hours.
Work Hours

This position will work a designated schedule established by the Department Head or his or her designee. It is also expected this position will work other hours including nights, weekends and/or holidays and/or in adverse weather conditions as necessary or requested in order to fulfill the City's vision and/or to accomplish departmental goals.
