Summary
Develops competency in and performs the basics of polysomnographic testing and associated interventions under the direct supervision of a Polysomnographic Technologist. The technician will be limited to performing basic polysomnography studies alone. CPAP/BIPAP titrations studies must be performed with a polysomnographic technologist present, approving the changes made.
Must be a high school graduate or GED. Must enroll and complete the AASM A-Step process or the CAAHEP program during the first 18 months of employment as a polysomnographic technician.
Must have the RPSGT credential from the BRPT or the RST credential from the American Board of Sleep Medicine within 1 year of being eligible to sit for the exam (must be in position for 18 months to be eligible to sit for this exam).
Prefer 1 year direct patient care experience. Must have experience working with windows based computer systems.
