DescriptionUpper Darby Township has an immediate opening for a full-time Administrative Clerk to perform a variety of clerical and administrative tasks to support a police department. The Clerk is a civilian employee of the police department. Personnel and work assignments are made wholly at the discretion of the Superintendent of Police or his/her designee, based on the needs of the police department, and the township administration.
Some of the essential duties of Administrative Clerk include, but are not limited to:
- Within the Administration division, answers telephone and greets visitors; provides information and assistance; refers to appropriate personnel.
- Submit traffic and non-traffic citations and transmittals to the district courts and Common Pleas Court in Media.
- Fill out deposit slips for restitution and extra duty details and send to Finance office
- Process police department bills in the Open Gov program.
- Create and send invoices to businesses, and outside agencies and municipalities for extra duty detail billing and prisoner holding billing.
- Calculate police hours spent on special assignments that qualify for federal reimbursement.
- Collects and organizes paperwork.
- Scans and files department bills; files physical copies.
- Other clerical assignments as needed included, but not limited to, payroll entry, writing of various correspondence, and mass mailings.
- Good attendance is an essential duty of this position
Position RequirementsQualified candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent; at least two (2) years of experience in a clerical or administrative role; and proficiency with Microsoft Suite products. Must also have a high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations; as well as the ability to handle multiple varied assignments in a given day with demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy. Work requires continual attention to detail in composing, typing and proofing materials. Candidates must pass a police background, federal clearances and a pre-employment drug test.
Preference will be given to candidates with some college, at least 3 years of experience and prior experience working in municipal government or police department environments.
