Role Overview
BEPC is seeking a skilled and experienced PLC Controls Engineer to commission and support high-speed automated material handling systems. This position plays a critical role in ensuring successful project delivery through expert-level controls engineering, frequent travel to client sites, and hands-on system implementation. Key Responsibilities
- Lead implementation and commissioning of electrical control systems using PLC technology.
- Develop and maintain documentation including QA/QC validations and testing protocols.
- Manage full project lifecycle: planning, execution, budgeting, and scheduling.
- Execute and support system testing (BUAT, UAT, FAT) and on-site commissioning activities.
- Collaborate with internal project teams and clients to ensure alignment and satisfaction.
- Conduct customer training and post-installation technical support.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 4+ years of experience in controls engineering within warehouse automation or material handling systems.
- Willingness and ability to travel 90% of the time to client sites nationwide.
Technical Expertise
- PLC Programming & Electrical Design: Allen-Bradley, Beckhoff
- Drives & Interfaces: VFD programming, HMI (Wonderware/Aveva Edge), machine vision integration (Sick, Cognex)
- Software Tools: Studio 5000, Logix 5000, RSLinx, FactoryTalk, B&R Automation Studio, AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, Ignition
- Networking: Proficiency in Ethernet, Profibus, and warehouse control system interfaces
Soft Skills
- Strong communication, planning, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a high-demand environment.
- Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively.
Contract Details
- Pay Rate: up to $45/hr with weekly pay.
- Schedule: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (may vary)
- Duration: 6-month contract
- Travel: 90% nationwide; weekly expense reimbursement via miscellaneous invoice submission
Preferred Background
- Candidates from Alliant Technologies or Factory Technologies are highly preferred.
- Experience with post and parcel material handling projects.
