COMPENSATION: $80,485.00 to $174,051.00 base salary plus potential for variable compensation. Base pay is determined by your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Farm Credit Mid-America/Rural 1st may compensate outside of the salary range for bona fide reasons not related to membership in a protected class.
About Our Opportunity The Platform Engineer spans application and hardware teams by planning, designing, and managing platforms for developed, SaaS and 3rd party systems. Promotes platform consistency and standards by creating and maintaining a set of tools and automation that allow developers and engineers to ship code to production in an efficient and reliable manner. Maximize automation and reduce toil.
Platform Engineers ensure the software development and system delivery process are efficient, stable, and consistent through the platforms and tools they design and maintain. Additionally, they manage and optimize the software delivery process.
How You Will Spend Your Time - Maintains ownership of system platforms for on premise, Cloud and Containerized solutions.
- Provides process, standards and tooling ownership for Configuration Management (CM) and support for Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Supports the development teams with continuous delivery, through automated deployment, provisioning and configuration of our application platforms.
- Assists in the design and implementation of tools and processes to deploy applications through environments (Development through Production).
- Assists with transition to production activities such as system design consulting, developing system platforms and frameworks, capacity planning and launch reviews.
- Collaborates with all technology teams to bring new applications, features and services into production.
- Leverages monitoring and alerting solutions and best practices to continuously improve Operations ability to detect, triage and guide escalation of system and performance issues.
- Actively reduces toil by leveraging automation.
- Administers and supports tools related to configurations, deployments, and releases.
- Provides production administration for enterprise platforms, escalating to and collaborating with appropriate resources as needed.
- Provides practice and process guidance for monitoring and alerting tools.
- Provides process expertise for system and platform upgrades.
- Owns and facilitates continuous improvements in the software delivery pipeline (CI/CD/CM).
Minimum Education & Experience High School diploma or GED is required, candidate should have a functional knowledge of Software Development, software engineering, or systems engineering. Completion of a cloud based platform (AWS, Azure, GCP), Kubernetes, and DevOps or software development training program may be considered in place of some education or experience. Plus two years direct experience in a Software Development/Software Engineer/DevOps/Systems Engineer role.
