A leading innovation-focused engineering group supporting next-generation infrastructure is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer with deep expertise in on-premises Kubernetes environments to assist in standing up a new system currently in development. This role will be embedded in a team that supports mission-critical infrastructure powering high-reliability, high-visibility physical systems.
This is a great opportunity for an engineer who thrives in hands-on, hardware-constrained environments, with a strong command of container orchestration, DevOps tooling, and on-prem platform integration.
Key Responsibilities
- Deploy and configure Kubernetes clusters using SUSE Rancher RKE2, with specific focus on resource-limited, on-prem environments.
- Manage container orchestration using Helm and Docker.
- Implement and optimize load balancing using MetalLB in a Kubernetes context.
- Administer and maintain private container registries (e.g., Harbor).
- Build and refine CI/CD pipelines using GitLab to support automated deployments and testing.
- Utilize and configure SUSE Longhorn for persistent volume storage.
- Integrate and maintain Chef for system configuration and deployment.
- Support container and cluster security with tools like NeuVector and monitoring solutions native to Kubernetes.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineers and developers in a dynamic, on-site environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of relevant systems/platform engineering experience.
- Proven expertise in on-premises Kubernetes deployments (cloud-only experience is not suitable for this role).
- Deep hands-on experience with:
- RKE2 / SUSE Rancher
- Docker & Helm
- GitLab CI/CD
- MetalLB
- Harbor, Longhorn
- Chef
- NeuVector (preferred)
- Comfortable working with limited infrastructure and tight resource constraints.
- Strong problem-solving, documentation, and collaboration skills.
Work Schedule
- Mon-Thu: On-site in Lake Buena Vista, FL
- Friday: Remote work available
- No travel required; must be local or willing to temporarily relocate
