We have an immediate opening for a Platform Engineer to fulfill a PaaS Product Owner role. This position provides an opportunity to advance cutting-edge technology that supports national defense and intelligence services. You will work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions for high-stakes national security missions.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and Platform as a Service (PaaS) product ownership for a submarine combat system infrastructure team.
- Create innovative product solutions that meet customer requirements while aligning with company financial and business objectives.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including hardware, software, and cybersecurity experts.
- Communicate software solutions and designs to medium and large teams of software engineers.
- Manage infrastructure ecosystem PaaS, troubleshooting, SWFTS integration, etc.
- Evolve system design with Non-Functional Requirements, ensuring attention to detail, resource allocation, and a holistic approach.
- Resolve complex issues and conduct research spikes.
- Develop PaaS product vision and manage agile teams.
- Support DevOps and CI/CD initiatives.
- Provide hands-on technical guidance to the team.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering or a related Science, Engineering, or Mathematics field.
- 7+ years of job-related experience or a Master's degree plus 5 years of job-related experience.
- Experience with Agile or SCRUM methodologies.
- Past leadership experience or readiness for leadership.
- Kubernetes experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Excellent communication skills; effective presenter with both internal and external audiences.
- Strong knowledge of technology trends and the ability to champion new ideas, products, and process improvements.
- Ability to handle complex assignments and work through challenging problems with external and internal stakeholders.
- Creative thinking with the ability to effectively multi-task.
- Experience with development for Real-Time Operating Systems.
- Experience with DevOps, CI/CD, Ansible, Helm, Python, Linux, AWS, and Azure.
Work Environment
This position is on-site in Manassas. It involves working with a team of 6-7 engineers, collaborating with the Scrum Master, assigning duties, and attending leadership meetings. As a product owner, you will be the go-to person for approvals and questions, and you will be responsible for building and deploying Kubernetes to the system.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $76.00/hr.
