Platform Engineer 6 Month Contract to hire (Potential for extension or conversion) Hybrid Schedule in Austin Texas Responsibilities- The ideal candidate will drive cloud innovation, ensure system reliability, and collaborate across teams to align technical solutions with business objectives
- Cloud Infrastructure Management - Design, deploy, and optimize Azure services, including Virtual Machines, Storage, SQL Databases, and Azure Functions, ensuring scalability and high availability
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC) - Automate cloud resource deployment using Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates to maintain consistency and efficiency
- Security & Compliance - Implement security best practices, including Azure Active Directory policies, Key Vault, Network Security Groups (NSGs), and encryption, while ensuring adherence to industry regulations (HIPAA, SOC 2, GDPR)
- Performance Optimization - Continuously monitor and fine-tune system performance using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights, and collaborate with FinOps teams to manage costs
- Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity - Develop and maintain backup and failover strategies utilizing Azure Backup, Site Recovery, and geo-replication, conducting regular failover tests
- DevOps & Automation - Work with DevOps and development teams to integrate Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Azure Container Instances (ACI), and CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitLab Runners)
- Networking & Security - Configure DNS, VPNs, Load Balancers, Azure Firewall, Network Security Groups, and ExpressRoute to ensure secure and reliable connectivity
- Technology Research & Evaluation - Stay updated on Azure innovations, evaluate new cloud solutions, and recommend best-fit technologies to enhance efficiency
- Documentation & Reporting - Maintain technical documentation on cloud architecture, security policies, and system performance for stakeholder review
Qualifications- 8+ years of experience in cloud and systems engineering, with a specialization in Azure infrastructure
- 5+ years of hands-on experience designing and deploying scalable, secure, and highly available Azure environments
- Strong expertise in Azure services, including VMs, Storage, SQL Database, Virtual Networks, Azure CDN, and AAD
- Advanced proficiency in Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates for Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
- Hands-on experience automating cloud workflows using Azure DevOps, Ansible, or Azure Automation
- Strong knowledge of networking fundamentals, including VPNs, Firewalls, Load Balancing, and ExpressRoute
- Proven ability to configure and manage Azure monitoring tools like Log Analytics, Application Insights, and third-party solutions (e.g., Prometheus, Dynatrace)
- Experience in system performance optimization and cost management within cloud environments
