Platform Engineer/Azure, IaC, Automation/Hybrid/Austin, TX
Our client is the first external investment corporation formed by a public university system and oversees investments for The University of Texas and Texas A&M Systems. Their vision is to strive to be the world's leading endowment fund, making a lasting positive impact on the future of Texas and beyond. They are based out of Austin, TX and are looking to hire a Platform Engineer on a Contract-to-Hire bases.
They are looking for an ambitious and talented Platform Engineer with significant automation experience. You will be a key contributor on a technology team that creates solutions designed to propel an $80 billion-dollar investment firm to the next level. This position has tremendous opportunity for professional growth.
Contract Duration: 6-month Contract-to-Hire
Required Skills & Experience
- Experience supporting a Microsoft Azure IaaS platform
- Knowledge of Windows Server configuration (.NET, and IIS). Ability to setup and administer CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps). Ability to setup and administer source control
- Understanding of common Internet-centric applications and protocols such as: HTTP, SMTP, SSL, SSH, SNMP, DNS
- Be a practicing evangelist in the belief that any repetitive and/or error prone process or task should be scripted, automated, and version controlled
Desired Skills & Experience
- Azure DevOps Server or Team Foundation Server
- Azure IaaS & PaaS solutions
- Experience in a secure platform environment (ie PCI-DSS, CIS L2)
- Cloudflare technologies
- Cloud Computing
- Financial Services
- Effective project management acumen
Daily Responsibilities
- Partner with peers in Information Services and Security team to architect and extend Azure DevOps automated deployment pipelines in pursuit of a 100% Infrastructure as Code environment
- Communicate with platform stakeholders and users
- Advance the firm by developing policies, procedures, and standards for secure modern technologies
- Support the team in production release rollouts, occasionally outside of core working hours
- Document configurations and processes so different teams understand how to use the same platform
- Ensure performance, security, and reliability of the platform through analysis and advancement of telemetry
- Enhance our technology resilience through participating in Business Continuation/Disaster Recovery planning, building, and testing
- Participate in active ownership of 24/7 enterprise systems, including performing maintenance to high standards and document processes for level 1 and level 2 support
- Administratively support IIS, Windows Server, Azure platform
