Position Overview
We are seeking a hands-on and detail-oriented RNG Technician to support day-to-day operations at our biogas facility. This role is responsible for maintaining and monitoring systems that convert raw biogas into pipeline-quality RNG. You'll work closely with engineers and operations staff to ensure optimal performance and compliance with environmental and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate, monitor, and maintain biogas upgrading systems (e.g., membrane separation, pressure swing adsorption, or water wash systems)
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance on compressors, pumps, valves, sensors, and other mechanical and electrical systems
- Monitor biogas flow rates, methane content, hydrogen sulfide levels, and other gas parameters using SCADA and lab instrumentation
- Collect and analyze gas samples for QA/QC
- Respond to alarms and troubleshoot equipment or process issues
- Maintain accurate logs, inspection records, and maintenance reports
- Assist in optimization projects and plant upgrades
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental and safety regulations
- Support manure handling and digester operations as needed
Qualifications
- Technical diploma in mechanical, electrical, environmental, or industrial technologies preferred; or equivalent experience
- 1-3 years of experience in industrial operations, wastewater treatment, gas processing, or renewable energy preferred
- Working knowledge of pumps, motors, piping, and instrumentation systems
- Basic understanding of gas chemistry and thermodynamics (preferred)
- Familiarity with SCADA systems and CMMS software (a plus)
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and on rotating on-call shifts
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Working Conditions
- Outdoor and indoor work in varying weather conditions
- Physical requirements include lifting (50 lbs), climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces
- Rotating on-call and occasional weekend work required
