Plant Systems Administrator (Windows/ VMware)

We are looking for an experienced Plant Systems Administrator to join our team in Charleston, SC. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for managing and ensuring the reliable and secure operations of the IT infrastructure at our manufacturing facilities. This includes overseeing server administration, system security, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize and secure manufacturing processes. Compensation: $105,000.00 - $125,000.00

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Administer and manage physical and virtual servers with a key focus on Windows servers running on VMware infrastructure.
  • Handle all aspects of Active Directory management including security protocols, system backup, and recovery strategies specifically tailored for a manufacturing plant environment.
  • Collaborate closely with the Information Security team to develop and implement strategies that protect systems from various cyber threats.
  • Management of Thin Manager, Thin Clients, and operator stations throughout the manufacturing plant.
  • Partner with engineering teams to drive the implementation of system changes adhering to stringent IT change management processes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system issues, collaborating with vendors to ensure high availability and reliability of IT infrastructures.
  • Provide mentorship and leadership to other IT team members in areas of systems administration and troubleshooting best practices.
  • Play a key role in project planning and the execution of IT initiatives designed to meet the evolving needs of the manufacturing operation.
Minimum Position Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
  • At least 4-7 years of hands-on experience in IT, with a preference for those who have worked within an industrial or manufacturing setting.
  • Proven technical proficiency with Windows Server environments, Active Directory, and VMware.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex IT issues effectively under pressure.
  • Experience in collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver IT solutions that enhance business processes.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% to meet project needs and assist with IT deployments.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Cisco Nexus switches and Siemens Industrial network equipment.
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience with VSAN, VMware 7, and Veeam backup solutions.
  • Familiarity with FortiGate firewalls and network security practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Strong communication skills for effective interaction with stakeholders and team members.
  • A proactive approach and a ready-to-learn attitude towards adopting new technologies and methodologies.

  • Expert knowledge in managing and configuring server infrastructures and data-storage systems.
  • Advanced skills in system security, including management of firewalls and intrusion detection systems.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze system logs, identify issues, and implement proactive solutions.
