Job overview This is an exciting opportunity to join our integrated therapy services at Newhaven Rehabilitation Unit. The Unit has a newly appointed Band 8a Clinical Specialist and together you will lead and develop the Unit.The Newhaven Rehabilitation Team comprises of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Therapy assistants working in an integrated way to provide rehabilitation to a complex caseload. The post holder will work to develop rehabilitation programmes which are best suited to individual patient's needs, promoting recovery and independence. With a focus on ensuring patients receive care in the most appropriate setting.
Main duties of the job To be responsible for the training and development of the staff working in the Newhaven therapy service.
To work with the Clinical Specialist 8a to lead an integrated therapy team.
To lead in the Newhaven Rehabilitation Unit advanced assessment and treatment planning for complex rehabilitation patients. Ensuring patients receive care in the most appropriate setting.
To provide an effective high-quality service to all patients and assist with the supervision and teaching of all members of the team including students.
To provide skilled team leadership and service development within therapies and the wider MDT.
To implement policy and policy changes in own clinical area and to assist with the setting and monitoring of standards of practice.
To undertake evidence-based projects in conjunction with the Head of Physiotherapy and other members of the MDT, including recommendations for change in practice and to lead in appropriate departmental research in this clinical area.
To problem solve clinical and non-clinical complex situations.

Person specification Experience and Qualifications
- Degree / Diploma in Physiotherapy
- HCPC Registration
- Masters degree in related subject
- Experience of operational management
- Experience of ability to manage resources / change priorities to respond to service demands
- Experience of facilitating education of students and co-ordinating placements
- Courses in management
- Experience of involvement in research or courses
Skills clinical
- Masters modules or equivalent courses / learning relevant to the clinical speciality
- Previous band 6 experience in core in patient areas
- Experience as a band 6 in Frailty or Rehabilitation services
- Experience of working within an integrated team
- Experience at Team Lead level for Frailty or Rehabilitation services.
- Experience of leading an integrated team
People management and development
- Experience of teaching staff development in a clinical setting, within and beyond physiotherapy department
- CPD evidence of reflective practise, in service training, courses attended and clinical experiences gained.
- Ability to work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team
- Experience of performance management
