Experienced General Surgeon needed for a locum tenens assignment in New Mexico. This 60-day opportunity, starting 06/30/2025, involves working at a hospital with a schedule of 3 days clinic (8am-5pm) and 2 days OR (7am-3:30pm), along with 24-hour call on weeknights and weekends for 3 weeks/month (21 consecutive days). The ideal candidate should be comfortable with a range of surgical procedures, including scopes, laparoscopies, and gallbladder and appendix surgeries. This role also requires the ability to stabilize and transfer patients when necessary. The position offers potential for extension and requires an active New Mexico license.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Perform upper and lower endoscopic procedures

Conduct laparoscopic surgeries, including gallbladder and appendix operations

Manage clinic patients and surgical cases

Provide on-call coverage for weeknights and weekends

Stabilize and arrange transfer of patients when necessary

Collaborate with ED team for urgent surgical needs

Utilize Cerner EMR system for patient documentation

Adapt to low-volume call environment (0-1 calls per night)


Additional Information:

Must be licensed in New Mexico

Comfortable working in a hospital setting without on-site trauma surgeon

Potential for assignment extension

Candidates with 2 weeks or more of availability will be considered
