We are seeking a skilled Neonatologist for a 60-day locum tenens assignment at a hospital in Mississippi. Starting on 07/01/2026, this opportunity covers critical periods in July-August and 2-3 weeks in December. The position involves 24-hour call shifts with a 30-minute response time, including 1-3 hours of rounding followed by on-call availability from a nearby hotel. The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing a Level II NICU, performing procedures such as PICC lines, ventilator management, chest tube insertions, and intubations. Responsibilities include attending emergent C-sections and high-risk deliveries 24/7. This role requires expertise in neonatal care, adaptability to a demanding call schedule, and proficiency with Allscripts and Medhost electronic health record systems.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Manage care for neonates in a NICU

Perform daily rounds (1-3 hours) and remain on-call for the remainder of the shift

Conduct procedures including PICC line insertions, ventilator management, chest tube placements, and intubations

Attend emergent C-sections and high-risk deliveries as needed

Utilize Allscripts and Medhost electronic health record systems for documentation

Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams

Maintain accurate and detailed patient records

Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures

Provide patient family education on neonatal care and outcomes

Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to neonatal care

Stay updated on the latest neonatology practices and technologies

Adapt to the demands of a 24-hour call schedule with 30-minute response time

Ensure efficient management of NICU patients and emergent situations


Additional Information:

Mississippi state medical license required

Experience in NICU care required

Proficiency in Allscripts and Medhost EHR systems beneficial

Ability to work full blocks in July-August and 2-3 weeks in December preferred

Possibility of assignment extension
