Experienced Hospitalist Physician needed for a locum tenens assignment in Virginia. This 120-day opportunity, starting 07/14/2025 involves working at a multi-specialty clinic with hospital responsibilities. The schedule follows a 7-on/7-off pattern, with 12-hour day shifts from 7 AM to 7 PM. The role includes rounding on patients, managing general hospital cases, following up on overnight admissions, and checking on inpatient rehab therapy patients every three days. The ideal candidate should be comfortable with a wide range of hospital cases and able to manage a diverse patient load. This position offers the potential for extension and requires an active Virginia medical license.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Provide comprehensive inpatient care for a variety of general hospital cases

Conduct daily rounds on assigned patients

Manage new admissions and follow up on overnight admits

Perform patient evaluations, diagnoses, and treatment plans

Order and interpret diagnostic tests and imaging studies

Collaborate with specialists and other healthcare professionals as needed

Check on inpatient rehab therapy patients every three days (7-patient unit)

Maintain accurate and detailed patient records using Epic EMR

Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members

Ensure smooth transitions of care, including admissions, transfers, and discharges

Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures

Participate in quality improvement initiatives as required


Additional Information:

Must be licensed to practice medicine in Virginia

Board certification in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine preferred

Experience as a hospitalist required

Proficiency with Epic EMR system a plus

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Flexibility to adapt to varying patient needs and hospital demands

Potential for assignment extension
