This is a full-time inpatient pediatrician role, focusing on providing care to newborns and pediatric patients admitted
SCHEDULE:
• 8 hours in-house per day (8:30 AM - 4:30 PM)
• 24/7 coverage with 16 hours of on-call responsibilities
• Typical census: 8-15 newborns per day and 0-2 pediatric patients per day
• Call responsibilities include: Nurse phone consultations, potential admissions from the ED, and attending high-risk deliveries or stabilizing sick newborns (calls come from nurses and/or ER doctors NOT from parents)
• Approximately 1,600 deliveries annually, expected to grow to 1,800-2,000 due to the expansion of the Women s Health department.
• Cerner EMR.
• 1 full time hospitalist.
• 1 part time hospitalist that helps cover weekends, holidays, and PTO. Also provides additional support on high census days if needed.
• 1 part time APRN on W, TH, F (morning only).
• Typical Census: 8-15 newborns per day / 0-2 pediatric patients per day.
• 90% of inpatient duties involve managing newborns, including nursery coverage.
• 10% of duties involve managing straightforward pediatric admissions such as basic ENT cases.
• No complex subspecialty care or PICU-level cases.
• Procedures Include: Circumcisions, emergency CPAP management, frenotomies, and excision of simple polydactyly. Rare emergency procedures such as intubation, needle decompression of pneumothorax, and UVC placement. Benefits:
