Experienced Hematologist/Oncologist Needed for Locum Tenens Assignment in California
We are seeking a skilled Hematologist/Oncologist for a locum tenens position at a Hospital in California. This 120-day assignment starts on 05/12/2025, with a full-time schedule Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, plus on-call responsibilities. The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing a balanced caseload of 50% hematology and 50% oncology patients. This role offers an opportunity to work in an established hospital setting, delivering high-quality care to patients with hematologic and oncologic conditions. The physician will be responsible for diagnosing, treating, and managing a diverse range of blood disorders and cancers, ensuring comprehensive patient care.

Job Responsibilities and Duties:
Diagnose and treat hematologic disorders and various types of cancer
Develop and implement treatment plans for patients
Perform bone marrow biopsies and other diagnostic procedures
Interpret laboratory results and imaging studies
Administer and monitor chemotherapy treatments
Manage blood disorders such as anemia, hemophilia, and blood clotting issues
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for comprehensive patient care
Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses and treatment options
Participate in tumor boards and case conferences
Manage on-call responsibilities as scheduled
Utilize Epic electronic health record system for patient documentation
Stay updated on the latest advancements in hematology and oncology
Ensure compliance with hospital policies and procedures
Contribute to quality improvement initiatives in the department
Mentor and educate medical students and residents, if applicable
Additional Information:
Must be board-certified in Hematology and Oncology
Active California medical license required
Experience with Epic EHR system preferred but not required
Strong clinical skills in both hematology and oncology
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
Comfortable managing a diverse patient population
Flexibility to adapt to the hospital's schedule and on-call requirements
Possibility of assignment extension beyond the initial 120 days
