Locum Tenens Emergency Medicine Physician Needed: Make a Difference in Rural Virginia (j-232025)

  • Meaningful Impact: Provide compassionate care to a community of approximately 21,000 residents, treating an average of 58 patients per day.

  • Flexible Scheduling Options:

    • Craft a schedule that works for you with a variety of day and night shifts available (12-hours, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM). Nights and weekends are in highest demand, but the opportunity to pick up additional shifts exists.
    • Block scheduling options are not available.

  • Key Responsibilities:

    • Provide comprehensive emergency care to patients experiencing a variety of medical emergencies, injuries, and sudden illnesses.
    • Conduct thorough evaluations, develop treatment plans, and order necessary diagnostics.
    • Perform essential procedures as needed within your scope of practice.
    • Collaborate effectively with the healthcare team to optimize patient care.
    • Stabilize and transfer patients to higher levels of trauma care when necessary.
    • Maintain accurate and detailed medical records within the Epic EMR system.
  • Qualifications for Success:

    • Board certification in Emergency Medicine by the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM) or the American Osteopathic Board of Emergency Medicine (AOBEM) is mandatory. Alternative board certifications are not accepted.
    • Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and PALS to demonstrate your commitment to patient safety.
    • Valid Virginia medical license to practice medicine without restrictions.
    • Current DEA registration is required.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with patients, families, and colleagues.
    • The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and make quick decisions.
    • A passion for serving rural communities is a plus.
