We are seeking a skilled Internal Medicine Physician Assistant for a 69-day locum tenens assignment at two facilities in Virginia, starting 05/27/2025 This opportunity requires coverage Monday through Friday, from 8 AM to 5 PM with an hour lunch break. The assignment involves working at two locations, with three days split between both facilities and two days exclusively in one location. The ideal candidate will be comfortable providing outpatient post-acute and long-term care for patients aged 50 and older in a nursing home setting. Responsibilities include managing acute medicine cases, conducting admissions and physicals, and treating chronic conditions.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Provide comprehensive care for outpatient post-acute and long-term care patients aged 50+

• Manage acute medical conditions and perform patient admissions

• Conduct physical examinations and health assessments

• Diagnose and treat chronic conditions in elderly patients

• Develop and implement care plans tailored to individual patient needs

• Prescribe medications and treatments as appropriate

• Utilize PointClickCare and GeriMed electronic health record systems

• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams

• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and staff members

• Ensure compliance with nursing home policies and procedures

• Maintain accurate and timely medical records

• Stay updated on geriatric care best practices and guidelines

Additional Information:

• Must be licensed as a Physician Assistant in Virginia

• Internal Medicine experience required

• Experience in geriatric care and nursing home settings preferred

• Strong clinical skills and attention to detail
