Barton Associates is seeking a skilled Physician Assistant specializing in Family Practice for a locum tenens position at a clinic in North Carolina. This 240-day assignment begins on 07/31/2025, with a Monday to Friday schedule from 8am to 5pm. The role includes occasional on-call responsibilities. The ideal candidate will be proficient in geriatric intake and medication management for individuals in the PACE program across three nursing facilities. Responsibilities include performing health histories, physical exams, patient education, ordering/interpreting lab tests, and providing comprehensive care for elderly patients. There is also a possibility of assignment extension.

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm (with on-call rotation)

Responsibilities and Duties:

Conduct geriatric intake assessments and manage medications for PACE program participants

Perform comprehensive health histories and physical examinations

Provide patient education and counseling

Order, interpret, and follow up on laboratory tests and results

Document patient care thoroughly using PACElogic electronic health record system

Initiate emergency measures as needed

Recognize and respond to abnormal findings

Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes

Participate in on-call rotation (1 week every 5 weeks) for triage services

Adhere to all clinic policies and procedures

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of geriatric and family practice best practices

Requirements:

Active North Carolina state license

Current certification as a Family Physician Assistant

Experience in geriatric care and medication management

Familiarity with PACE programs or similar elderly care initiatives

Proficiency in electronic health record systems, preferably PACElogic

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Willingness to participate in on-call rotation
