We are seeking a skilled Critical Care Physician Assistant for a 91-day locum tenens assignment at a hospital in Missouri. Starting on 09/29/2025, this opportunity offers 12-hour day shifts from 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM in a 7-on/7-off schedule. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICU), managing pre and post-operative care, including ECMO cases, for cardiothoracic surgery patients. Responsibilities include floor work, CTICU management, and documentation. The PA will work independently, with attending physician presence on Wednesdays and Thursdays. This role requires expertise in critical care, adaptability to various clinical scenarios, and proficiency with the Epic electronic health record system.

Responsibilities and Duties:
Manage pre and post-operative care for cardiothoracic surgery patients
Provide critical care in CTICU, including ECMO management
Conduct floor work related to cardiothoracic patients
Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop treatment plans
Monitor and adjust patient care based on clinical status
Utilize Epic electronic health record system for thorough documentation
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including surgeons and specialists
Maintain accurate and timely medical records
Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures
Provide patient and family education on critical care processes and expectations
Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to critical care
Stay updated on the latest critical care practices and technologies
Adapt to various clinical scenarios and emergency situations in the CTICU
Additional Information:
Missouri state PA license required
Experience in cardiothoracic critical care and ECMO management preferred
Proficiency in Epic EHR system beneficial
Possibility of assignment extension
