Physical Security Specialist with Security Clearance

Certifications Required: CompTIA Security+ (required) About the Position We are seeking a Physical Security Specialist to support the administration, maintenance, and operation of our organization's physical security infrastructure in Doral, Florida. This critical role ensures the ongoing integrity, functionality, and security of our access control systems, video surveillance, and alarm systems.
As a key member of the security team, you will collaborate with cross-functional departments to ensure seamless operations and implement best practices in physical security management. Your contributions will directly support the protection of personnel, facilities, and critical infrastructure. Key Responsibilities System Administration: Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot the Lenel OnGuard Access Control System, including user profiles, badge issuance, access levels, and reporting.
Video Surveillance: Administer and support video monitoring systems, including Pelco camera systems, ensuring full coverage and proper storage of surveillance footage.
Technical Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues related to physical security software, hardware, servers, and network interfaces.
Systems Maintenance: Perform scheduled maintenance, software updates, patch management, and database backups to ensure optimal system performance.
Department Collaboration: Work closely with J6 (Information Management/Technology), DPW (Department of Public Works), and other internal units to coordinate system integration and upgrades.
Policy & Procedure Support: Assist in drafting, reviewing, and implementing physical security policies, SOPs, and contingency plans. Alarm Monitoring & Incident Response: Monitor intrusion detection systems and respond to alarms and security events in accordance with response protocols.
Audit & Documentation: Maintain accurate system logs, access records, equipment inventory, and contribute to periodic audits and compliance reviews. Minimum Qualifications
2-4 years of experience in physical security or IT system administration, ideally in a government, DoD, or enterprise environment.
Direct hands-on experience with Lenel OnGuard access control systems.
Proficient with IP-based video surveillance systems, particularly Pelco or equivalent.
Strong computer literacy with the ability to troubleshoot servers, workstations, and networked devices.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, while effectively collaborating in a team setting.
Preferred Qualifications (Bonus Points)
Familiarity with other physical security technologies (e.g., intrusion detection, badge printing systems, security turnstiles).
Working knowledge of physical security regulations, standards, and risk management frameworks (e.g., DoD, NIST, FIPS).
Experience participating in or supporting security audits and vulnerability assessments.
Required Certification
CompTIA Security+ (must be obtained prior to or within 90 days of employment if not already held)
Work Environment
This is an on-site position based in Doral, Florida. Some lifting of equipment and periodic after-hours support may be required for system maintenance or emergency troubleshooting.
