As a Physiatrist on the Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit, you will work closely with an expert interdisciplinary team to guide patients through recovery following stroke, spinal cord injury, brain injury, orthopedic trauma, and other disabling conditions. You will provide direct care, coordinate consults, lead care planning, and play a key role in helping patients transition back to their communities.

Work Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week

Location: Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit - Bend, Oregon

Call: One weekend per month, shared with the rehab team

Key Clinical Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive initial evaluations to develop functional rehabilitation plans
  • Round daily on inpatients to monitor progress and address evolving medical and rehab needs
  • Provide medical management including pain control, spasticity treatment, and co-morbidity management
  • Lead interdisciplinary team conferences and coordinate care with therapists, case managers, nurses, and specialists
  • Communicate with patients and families regarding prognosis, rehab goals, and discharge planning
  • Oversee post-discharge care including outpatient therapy, home health services, or transitional facilities
  • Provide outpatient follow-up to ensure continuity of care after inpatient rehab
  • Collaborate with the admissions and consult services for new patient assessments
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation using Epic EMR

Essential Functions

  • Serve as a leader in aligning care with the mission and values of St. Charles Health System
  • Promote a healing environment by demonstrating empathy, active listening, and skilled communication
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts and uphold standards for clinical quality, safety, and patient experience
  • Maintain professional conduct in compliance with regulatory, licensing, and hospital requirements
  • Stay current with board certification, CME requirements, and all medical licensure obligations
  • Attend required team and medical staff meetings and contribute to the development of protocols and best practices

Qualifications

Education

  • MD or DO from an accredited medical school
  • Completion of a residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
  • Board certified or board eligible by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (ABPMR)
  • (Certification expected within 2 years of hire)

Licensure and Certification

  • Oregon medical license (or eligibility to obtain)
  • Unrestricted DEA registration
  • BLS certification
  • Unrestricted ability to participate in Medicare and Medicaid programs
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet driving requirements

Experience

  • EMR experience required (Epic preferred)
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills in a team-based environment
  • Experience in inpatient rehabilitation preferred
  • Fellowship training in spinal cord injury or brain injury medicine is a plus
