Physical Literacy Lead (Fixed-term 30 months)
Leeds Beckett University has a fantastic opportunity to deliver an exciting and innovative Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) with The Grammar School at Leeds (GSAL) - a leading independent school and registered charity.
The 30-month project will develop and embed an innovative approach to develop the Physical Literacy of young people (defined by Sport England as 'our relationship with movement and physical activity throughout life') leading to improved health, wellbeing and academic achievement. You will work with school leaders and the academic team from the University to evaluate existing practices across the various school contexts (Physical Education, school sport, recreational periods, active travel and during academic lessons) and will contribute to the co-creation of new interventions and resources which can be delivered internally and externally.
We are looking for an enthusiastic graduate with a degree in Physical Education, Sports Science or a related field. We encourage applications from a self-starter with excellent communication and project management skills. You should have knowledge of Physical Literacy concepts and research trends and will have experience of designing and delivering age-appropriate activities, ideally within a school setting.
This role is a government funded Knowledge Transfer Partnership project. It provides you with an invaluable opportunity to fast-track your career development and establish your position as an industry leader of tomorrow. You will benefit from a management training programme and a substantial personal development budget of £5000 to help you develop your skills. There is also the opportunity to study for a higher degree (PhD or MRes) with fee waiver.
You will be supported by a team of academic experts from Leeds Beckett University's Carnegie School of Sport. You will work alongside an engaged and forward-thinking leadership team at GSAL gaining wide-ranging and senior-level experience.
You will be officially based at GSAL in North Leeds and you will feel, to all intents and purposes, part of the GSAL team. We anticipate that the successful candidate will start the project in September 2025.
The project provides dedicated budgets to support training and development (£2k pa) alongside opportunities to access the university's pension scheme, staff benefits and discounts, staff training and development programmes as well as high level support from expert Leeds Beckett academics. The university also offers candidates the opportunity to study for a higher degree (MRes, MPhil or PhD) with a fee waiver in place.
There is a travel and subsistence budget included in the project.
