Overview

  1. Coordinates medical and physical fitness qualifications for Protective Force (PF) employees as required by 10 CFR 1046.
  2. Develops and prepares fitness for duty reports for Site Medical and PF.
  3. Coordinates with Site Medical to establish the schedule for annual physicals and communicates the appointment times with PF Management and the PF member.
  4. Administers the bi-annual fitness assessments for the PF. Schedules the Fitness Assessments and ensures PF Management and the PF employee receive the schedule.
  5. Screens and schedules employees for stress tests in accordance with 10 CFR 1046 and Centerra-SRS procedures. Ensures all appointments and schedules are completed in the required and specified time limits.
  6. Maintains communication and establishes rapport with Site Medical and applicable offsite Providers, ensuring ongoing, successful programs.
  7. Provides instructions to include demonstrations, exercises, and briefings for the PF in order to minimize injuries and improve fitness levels. Communicates the Physical Fitness Guide to PF employees and adapts the Guide as needed to meet individual needs.
  8. Oversees the use of fitness equipment to ensure PF exercise properly and safely. Provides education on good hygiene practices in the gym environment and ensures cleaning products are available. Oversees cleanliness and maintenance of all gym equipment. Coordinates with the Training Division on group fitness training sessions as applicable.
  9. Tracks overall fitness levels and health and provides charts/graphs to the HFD Manager.
  10. Coordinates with the Occupational Safety and Health Department to analyze hazards and establish risk assessments to ensure compliance with all DOE and Centerra-SRS safety policies and procedures.
  11. Conducts chemical inventories for the HFD and serves as the Chemical Coordinator. Participates in Employee Safety and Health Committee meetings, providing fitness topics when requested.
  12. Maintains HFD procedures and intranet page to ensure all materials are current and relevant.
  13. Conducts surveillances and assessments as directed by the HFD Manager.
  14. Oversees the Centerra Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Program to ensure operability checks and inventories are accurate. Coordinates the AED program and the use of AEDs with the Site Medical Director. Maintains the records of maintenance and testing of AEDs.
  15. Must perform all responsibilities for environment, safety and health as defined in Procedure 1-3100 and adhere to the principles and functions of Integrated Safety Management.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities & Other Requirements
  1. Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science or other physical fitness field is required.
  2. Must have two years of experience developing and conducting physical fitness training.
  3. Must obtain and maintain American College of Sports Medicine certification.
  4. Must be able to obtain and maintain CPR/AED certification.
  5. Must be able to obtain/maintain a DOE "L" security clearance.

  2. Assessment - 20 minutes
  3. 4-mile run - 40 minutes
