Flexsys has an immediate opening for a PhD analytical chemist in the Akron corporate headquarters. This position will support our business and innovation platforms providing synthetic expertise and productivity. The ideal candidate will have broad and extensive laboratory experience in multiple analytical techniques. This role will report to a Technology group leader.
Job Responsibilities
• Employ the latest analytical technology and sound analytical principles to solve major technical problems.
• Help provide necessary solutions to internal partners having analytical needs.
• Participate on R&D projects utilizing a variety of measurement techniques.
• Evaluate/develop new technologies and lead efforts to implement them.
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot analytical instrumentation.
• Review and write test methods and technical reports.
• Coordinate and ensure completion of projects.
• Participate on technical teams focused on corporate growth programs as well as efforts to improve quality/reliability of laboratory services.
Requirements
Job Description/Qualifications
• Required Degree: PhD in analytical, physical chemistry or similar discipline
• An innovative and creative problem solver with strong scientific convictions and willing to take risks.
• Proven experience in analytical chemistry
• Working knowledge of multiple analytical techniques is required.
• Expertise in chromatography and spectroscopy is highly desired.
• Experience in laboratory automation and micro-analysis desired.
• Ability to work in a team environment is necessary.
• Knowledge in instrument troubleshooting and statistics desired.
• Candidate should be motivated to develop into a company expert (leader) in analytical chemistry.
• Should be able to lead other scientists and technicians to provide key analytical data for product and process development.
• Should have clear and effective writing and oral communication skills.
