POSITION SUMMARY: Assists inpatient pharmacy in efficiently dispensing medications by preparing bulk and batch sterile products, providing drugs and supplies to nursing stations, and ensuring accurate patient charges. Supports the pharmacist in all aspects of medication dispensing and related functions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: High School diploma or equivalent required. CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES: Must register as a non-certified technician and obtain national pharmacy technician certification within 1 year. SKILLS: Effective verbal and interpersonal skills, basic computer skills, familiarity with medical terminology, basic math, and reading comprehension preferred. EXPERIENCE: Hospital experience preferred. ENVIRONMENT: Occasional exposure to bloodborne pathogens and hazardous materials in a busy environment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must move rapidly throughout the hospital, have sufficient hearing and eyesight, and be able to lift moderate loads.
