POSITION SUMMARY: Assists the pharmacist and pharmacy technicians in preparing and dispensing medications while providing excellent pharmacy services. The inpatient pharmacy technician trainee will learn skills in sterile and non-sterile compounding, processing prescriptions, and restocking medication devices, adhering to hospital and NM Board of Pharmacy regulations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: High School diploma or equivalent required. CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES: Must register as a non-certified technician and obtain national certification within 1 year. SKILLS: Effective communication, basic computer skills, familiarity with medical terminology preferred. EXPERIENCE: Hospital experience preferred. NATURE OF SUPERVISION: Reports to Pharmacy Director/Manager.
ENVIRONMENT: Exposure to bloodborne pathogens, potential infectious materials, and hazardous chemicals in a busy setting.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must move quickly throughout the hospital, have sufficient hearing and eyesight, and be able to lift moderate loads.
