Pharmacist

Job description: Job Summary:

Pharmacists have functional supervision of pharmacy technicians
Communication commonly occurs with internal and external customers
Must maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with the Healthcare Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
Supports financial goals of the department by utilizing good inventory control methods
Sound clinical judgment utilizing evidence based medicine is expected
Work is performed within the pharmacy and in patient care areas and will work in close proximity with others
Job is fast paced and employee may be subject to long hours of physically and mentally stressful activity, performing activities in a limited time period; especially on weekends, nights, and holidays
Potential for exposure to harmful biological agents, chemical agents and cytotoxic substances exists

Qualifications: Education: Must be a graduate of a College of Pharmacy accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE).

Experience:
Pharmacy Practice Residency or equivalent Hospital experience is preferred

Licensure, certification, and/or registration:
License to practice Pharmacy in the Commonwealth of Virginia required within 90 days of hire. During the first 90 days of employment and the licensure application process, pharmacists without a valid license to practice pharmacy in the Commonwealth of Virginia may not perform duties restricted to a licensed pharmacist until the license is obtained.
