The Olympic Club, a private member athletic and country club in San Francisco, seeks a Personal Trainer / Fitness Professional / Group Fitness Instructor for our downtown City Clubhouse. At The Olympic Club, our members enjoy 2 campuses, 19 sports, world-renowned golf courses, exceptional social and athletic programs as well as 18 hotel rooms and 5 Food & Beverage outlets. Our City Clubhouse is located one block from Union Square and within easy walking distance of the Powell Street BART station. Our Lakeside Clubhouse sits next to the ocean on the border of San Francisco and Daly City.

The Olympic Club offers employees free golf on Mondays at our Lakeside campus and a variety of sports and social events for employees throughout the year as well as lunch and dinner provided every day.

Personal Trainer / Fitness Professional Job Summary:

We are seeking an enthusiastic, skilled, and inspiring Personal Trainer to join our fitness team. As an Olympic Club Personal Trainer, you will work closely with our members to understand their fitness goals and create customized exercise plans to help them succeed. You'll provide expert guidance on workouts, form, and technique while offering motivation and accountability to keep clients on track. Additionally, you may offer general advice on nutrition and healthy habits to support their fitness journey.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Lead one-on-one and small-group fitness sessions with clients

• Listen to clients' fitness goals and actively track their physical progress

• Monitor the use of fitness equipment to ensure client safety

• Demonstrate fitness techniques and train clients to use gym equipment properly

• Explain and enforce all member policies.

• Perform CPR and/or emergency first aid if necessary

• Demonstrate excellent customer service skills

• Attend staff meetings and in-house training as required

• Maintain current industry standards and maintain active personal training and AED/CPR certifications.

• Offer general nutritional and lifestyle guidance to complement fitness plans

• Maintain a welcoming and professional environment in the fitness areas.

• Write articles for The Olympian magazine that pertain to health and fitness

• Keep fitness areas clean and clutter free and safe from obstructions

• Other duties as assigned by your manager/supervisor

Requirements and Skills:

• Broad knowledge of physical exercise and human physiology, with the ability to determine appropriate workout plans according to individual needs and goals

• Positive attitude and excellent interpersonal skills

• Physical ability and stamina to demonstrate exercise techniques accurately over long periods of time

• In-depth knowledge of gym equipment, machines, and fitness techniques

• Fluent oral English communication skills

• Regular attendance required based on business expectations and needs.

• Adheres to all federal, state, local and San Francisco laws regarding health, safety, employment, time and attendance.

Objectives/Standards:

• A dedicated professional with a positive and encouraging attitude to inspire our members

• Ability to design and implement personalized fitness programs for a variety of fitness levels

• Modify fitness plans to address health issues, injuries, or other specific needs

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build lasting client relationships

• Provide tips, advice, and guidance on improving form and using all fitness equipment

• Support the development and delivery of all fitness programs

• To cultivate a client base for personal training or group fitness classes that is a minimum of 50% of your weekly work hours

• When not working directly with a client, be present in the various fitness areas as assigned by the Fitness Director

• Adhere to the schedule set in place. Requests for schedule changes must be preapproved by your supervisor

• Work as a team, provide time off requests in advance and obtain approval to maintain adequate coverage for members

• Respond to all member and staff emails and calls in a timely manner

Preferred Qualifications

• Background in exercise science, kinesiology, or related field

• Strong teaching and leadership skills

• Commitment to staying current on health and fitness best practices

• NASM, NSCA CSCS, CPT, ACSE, Kinesiology Degree or related certifications/degree FMS, Strength & Conditioning, Olympic Lifting experience a plus.

Qualifications Required:

• Minimum 2 years' experience in personal training

• Skills required: Excellent verbal and written skills. Proven leadership & problem-solving abilities.

• CPR / AED / First Aid Certified
