Description

The City of Jefferson is currently accepting applications for Personal Trainer for our Parks and Recreation Department. This position will work out of the The Linc. This position is responsible for developing and designing fitness training programs while providing thorough instruction and appropriate counsel based on client assessments and needs.
Examples of Duties

Facilitate and guide clients using positive characteristic traits.

Provide a client consultation/assessment to determine a training schedule and program based on national ACE standards or equivalent.

Administer a health appraisal/medical history review.

Administer fitness evaluation and co-design programs based on the evaluation.

Instruct participants on proper use of equipment.

Keep records on participant and payment schedule.

Promote Personal Training through personal example and member interaction.

Stay current on fitness concepts and ideas.

Maintain safety standards for participants and equipment.

Must perform all duties in a safe, prudent and timely manner.

Attend staff meetings.

Perform other duties as may be assigned.
Typical Qualifications

Physical: Lift, carry and transport equipment weighing up to 50 pounds; participate in exercise classes for various time periods; and participate in various departmental sponsored public events.

Mental: Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships; respond to complaints and manage crisis situations in a calm, professional and expedient manner.

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Considerable experience in personal training preferred.

Must possess one of the following Personal Trainer certifications: American Council on Exercise (ACE), American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA), National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). Other certifications may be approved by immediate supervisor. CPR, AED and First Aid required.

Must have valid Missouri's drivers' license; general knowledge of the principles and practices of Parks and Recreation program and facility operations, management, maintenance and procedures. Must be able to motivate and have good communication skills.

Supplemental Information

This position is paid by the hour at the rate of $23.75-$33.75 an hour depending on experience. Days and hours vary based on the needs of the clients.
