Job Title Paraprofessional/PCA
Hours: 7:15 am to 2:15 pm (30 Minute Unpaid Lunch Break)
Grade: High school level
Job Summary We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Paraprofessional. In this role, you will assist in providing critical instructional, behavioral, and personal care support to special needs students within a classroom setting. You will play a key part in fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment while upholding high standards of professionalism and teamwork.
Responsibilities
- Student Support
- Assist in supervising, caring for, and instructing special needs students in a regular or self-contained classroom.
- Provide academic and behavioral support based on Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
- Implement behavior intervention plans and support students' social skills development.
- Provide physical assistance to students during activities of daily living, including meals and restroom routines.
- Classroom Collaboration
- Work closely with teachers, instructors, therapists, and other professionals to support student needs.
- Modify materials and provide one-on-one or small group instruction under the guidance of the classroom teacher.
- Data Collection & Reporting
- Collect and maintain data on student performance and behavior as directed by educators.
- Report findings to relevant school personnel to monitor progress.
- Crisis & Environment Management
- Assist in de-escalating situations and manage crises using established protocols.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom environment.
- Professional Development & Adherence
- Comply with all policies, procedures, and administrative directives.
- Demonstrate professionalism, respect, and ethical behavior in all interactions.
- Additional Duties
- Perform other tasks as required to ensure effective classroom functioning.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1+ years of experience as a PCA, Paraprofessional, or Paraeducator in a public, private, or educational school setting.
- Reliable transportation
- Flexibility, reliability, and strong organizational skills.
- Adequate verbal and written communication skills.
- CPR and First Aid certification.
- Knowledge of confidentiality standards (FERPA).
- Experience with students exhibiting behavioral challenges (preferred).
