About the Role: The City of La Marque is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused
Part-Time Permit Clerk to join our Development Services Department. This position plays a key role in supporting the permitting process, ensuring timely and accurate processing of permit applications, and providing excellent service to the public, contractors, and internal departments.
Key Responsibilities: - Receive, review, and process building permit applications
- Enter and track permit data in the permitting software system
- Verify documentation for completeness and compliance
- Respond to public inquiries in person, by phone, and via email regarding permits, inspection scheduling, and zoning requirements
- Coordinate with inspectors and other departments to support permit-related processes
- Maintain organized files and records related to permits and inspections
- Perform general clerical duties, including data entry, filing, and document scanning
Qualifications: - High school diploma or GED required
- Prior clerical or customer service experience preferred; municipal or permitting experience a plus
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with the public and staff
- Ability to learn and use permitting software systems
