Description The
Permit Agent is responsible for preparing and submitting permit applications to Local, State, and Federal Agencies. This position will work closely with the Outside Plant Engineer and Design team to ensure projects stay on track by lining up permits and expediting the process for all parties in obtaining land access to deliver fiber optic cable across rural America.
Responsibilities & Duties - Obtain documents from municipalities, DOT's, and BLM, State Land and National Forest for Fiber projects while acting as a liaison for the company.
- Assemble pole permits based on the information provided by the engineering team.
- Communicate clearly and quickly with managers and other departments about changes to the process or obstacles to workflow.
- Track all pending permits through the review process while effectively communicating the status of each permit.
- Prepare and track timeline schedules for obtaining approved permits from any required permitting entity and distribute to all appropriate parties, internally and externally, as required.
- Assist with project deliverables in accordance with scheduled due dates.
- Follow up on existing projects with appropriate departments and managers to move jobs through the permitting process as quickly and efficiently as possible.
- Coordinate paperwork and applications with outside consultants as necessary.
- Submit all paperwork for permits.
- Responsible for any workflow and the associated tasks, follow-ups with municipalities, and working professional relationships required.
- Responsible for securing the timely preparation and submission of plans, inspections, and permits through various municipalities based on construction deadlines.
- Track and manage permits for multiple projects concurrently.
- Maintain a professional and courteous relationship with permitting agencies and third-party sub consultants.
- Document and process all plan revisions and coordinate time-frame requirements.
- Represents the company in a professional and friendly manner.
- Supports the Engineering department with associated administrative duties.
QualificationsEducation: - Bachelor's Degree is desired but not necessary.
Experience: - 1-3 years of related experience in permitting or the telecommunication Industry is an added plus.
- Experience or knowledge of State, Highway Department & Municipal requirements for telecom construction permitting processes is a preferred quality.
- Experience within fields such as Surveying, Engineering Technology and other related fields is desirable but not required.
Skills: - Strong technical skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Detailed and in-depth understanding of various permit industry knowledge.
- Proficiency and ability to utilize computer software programs, including spreadsheet, word processing, database, AutoCAD, Google Earth, and PDF applications.
- Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to work with personnel at all levels, both within and outside the company.
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Highly organized and attentive to detail with excellent follow-through skills.
