Job Summary
This innovative opportunity for an Advanced Practice Provider (APP), either a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or a Physician Assistant (PA) to partner with attending Hospitalists in inpatient care.
This partnership aims to reduce length of stay and increase efficiency in care delivery through the entirety of inpatient care.
This role includes direct care of medical inpatients through co-management with the attending of record.
The APP will follow a total of 6 patients on average, with one possible admission per day.
New graduate NP/PA applicants:
-Please include clinical rotations in their resumes and should include prior work experience.
-If a new graduate then must be in good standing to complete necessary program with subsequent candidacy and completion of above prior to start date.
PLEASE NOTE: This is an every other Weekend Rounding position for your first year of employment, after your onboarding period. The weekend requirement may be reduced in subsequent years with ongoing employment.
Responsibilities:
- Possess the ability to care for critically ill adult patients with a broad range of medical problems.
- Possess the maturity, self-confidence, and ability to follow sophisticated patient management plans.
- Eligible for state and federally controlled substances registration.
- Diagnose and treat health problems; acquire patient histories, perform comprehensive physical exams, do simple diagnostic tests, prepare a diagnosis and implement treatment procedures for illnesses; and prescribe medications. - Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to deliver care appropriate to the age of the patients served on their assigned unit.
- The APP promotes a collaborative relationship and effort between the Hospitalists, Private Physicians, Nurses, and the interdisciplinary health care team toward resource management.
- Applicants for this position should be patient-centered, motivated, and upbeat clinicians that want to be part of a large academic team of Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, and Physicians. You are a self-starter and have the ability to lead a care team in collaboration with MD/DO colleagues and NP/PA peers.
Qualifications
Current Massachusetts Licensure, with all associated active certifications, as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant, in good standing, required. General medical inpatient experience is preferred; however, those with other APP experience and new graduates will be considered. Candidates with direct patient care experience on an inpatient medicine floor or in the ICU is strongly preferred. NP - A minimum of two years of inpatient RN experience is strongly preferred NPs - ICU experience is a plus PA-Cs - Inpatient medicine rotation preferred for new graduate PA's Advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) standards as established by the American Heart Association.
