Description:

The Department of Pediatrics at Tulane University in conjunction with the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Children's Hospital in New Orleans seeks a physician with expertise in childhood malignancies. The physician will help continue the growth of the robust cancer treatment program. A commitment to academic medicine and scholarship is expected. A clinical focus in either neuro-oncology or leukemia/lymphoma will fit the needs of the program and the best qualified individual will be given priority.

The Department of Pediatrics at Tulane is committed to providing excellence in education, clinical care, and research. The selected candidate will become actively involved in all aspects of teaching including medical students, residents, and Pediatric Hematology/Oncology fellows. Oversight of clinical trials at Children's Hospital as well as the implementation of new trials, membership in smaller sub-specialty organizations, and dissemination of knowledge through presentations and publications are other expectations.

Children's Hospital is home to the Departments of Pediatrics of both Louisiana State University (LSU) New Orleans and Tulane University. Children's Hospital is a 222-bed, not-for-profit Pediatric medical center offering a complete range of healthcare services for children from birth to 21 years. A $300 million campus transformation was completed in 2021. Hospital leadership is committed to programmatic growth and excellence.

As a Tulane University employee, the new faculty member will receive a negotiable salary commensurate with experience, and a fully comprehensive benefits package. Academic appointment will be at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor determined by the candidate's experience and scholarly achievements.


Qualifications:

Qualified applicants must be board certified/eligible in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology and be licensed to practice medicine in Louisiana by the start date. He or she must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Fluent and conversational skills in Spanish is desirable. Successful candidates will have outstanding patient care skills, a strong desire to share their knowledge with students and residents and participate in advancing the quality of care at Children's Hospital. Faculty members are expected to contribute to the advancement of scholarly or educational activities in the department.
