Sunshine Pediatric Day Center is looking for a Physical Therapist to provide coordinated care to minors.


Position Title: Physical Therapist

Classification: Clinical

Lines of Authority: Reports to Nursing Director


Physical Therapist Essential Duties

  • Plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans to restore or maintain a minor's well-being
  • Plan, organize and conduct physical therapy treatment programs based on the medical referral and their evaluation
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams
  • Perform initial and ongoing clinical assessments to identify the needs of a minor

  • Develop and revise a Plan of Care in consultation with the physician and the IDT

  • Provide therapeutic treatments and evaluation of equipment needs as applicable

  • Evaluate outcomes of care with appropriate discharge planning

  • Apply concepts of infection control and standard precautions in coordinating/performing care activities to prevent contamination and transmission of disease

  • Supervise PTA as appropriate

  • Complete documentation in a timely manner

  • Meet mandatory continuing education requirements of the center

  • Follow and promote center administrative policies

  • Participate in the center's meetings as appropriate


Physical Therapist Education/Experience

  • Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from an American Physical Therapy Association-approved program
  • Valid license under Texas Occupations Code, Chapter 453, as a Physical Therapist
  • At least one year of experience in a pediatric health care setting

Physical Therapist Job Requirements/Skills

  • Therapy skills as defined as generally accepted standards of practice
  • Knowledge of durable medical equipment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively
  • Demonstrates proven decision-making skills
  • Able to read, write and comprehend English

Environmental Working Conditions

Prolonged sitting is required with the ability to operate office equipment which may include heavy lifting, bending, and standing. May be required to lift and move patients up to 50 pounds. Requires ability to handle stressful situations in a calm and courteous manner at all times. Requires working under some stressful conditions to meet deadlines and center needs. Possible exposure to blood and bodily fluids and infectious diseases.
