The position is primarily responsible for patient care in the outpatient setting, including satellite locations.
Outpatient duties include evaluation of patients in the clinic setting, writing chemotherapy orders for planned chemotherapy cycles, management of outpatient prescriptions and home care orders, performance of bone marrow aspirations and biopsies and lumbar punctures with chemotherapy injection, education of patients and their families on active issues and therapeutic changes, interaction with appropriate consultants, scheduling appropriate follow up for patients and assistance with data monitoring related to the Solid Tumor patient population. The position may also provide select services to patients in the inpatient setting, including daily rounding and assistance with coordination of care.
The successful individual will work collaboratively with other providers within the Leukemia and Neuro-Oncology teams and the broader CCBD to help with patient care needs and/or completion of projects as they are identified. Participation in focused quality or research projects, in conjunction with the Solid Tumor team, is encouraged. The position will work Monday through Friday, without mandatory weekend or holiday coverage responsibilities. Prior pediatric oncology experience preferred although not required.
This position works in collaboration with the attending physicians and works within their scope of practice to provide excellent clinical care for patients. Plays a critical role in the patient family medical team. Professional who may practice in hospital s inpatient and/or outpatient setting.
