Overview of the Payroll Tax Accountant Role:

  • As a Payroll Tax Accountant, you'll be crucial in ensuring compliance and accuracy in tax-related matters. Your responsibilities will include:
    • Obtaining taxing jurisdiction account numbers and reconciling between taxing jurisdictions and payroll tax vendors.
    • Processing payroll taxes, including reporting, payments, and declarations.
    • Performing tax liability reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance.
    • Assisting with 941 and 940 payments, as well as quarterly reports.
    • Supporting year-end tax reconciliations, including issuing W-2s, processing W-2s with Tax Agencies, and handling 1099s.
    • Collaborating with accounting to meet departmental goals and assist as needed.

Preferred Qualifications for the Payroll Tax Accountant:

  • To excel in this role, our ideal Payroll Tax Accountant candidate should possess:
    • 3-5 Years of Experience: Demonstrate a strong background in payroll, tax filing, account reconciliation, and intermediate accounting.
    • PEO Experience: Experience with a Professional Employer Organization (PEO) is advantageous.
    • Excellent Communication Skills: Possess clear written and verbal communication skills to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Strong Time Management: Exhibit good time management skills and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
    • Dedication to Quality: Demonstrate professionalism, commitment, and a strong desire to deliver quality work.
    • Computer Proficiency: Be computer literate with intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
