The NYC Law Department is seeking a qualified candidate for a Full time Clerical Associate Level 4 position as a Payroll Supervisor in its Administration Division's Payroll Unit. This role involves responsible work of varying difficulty and responsibility, performed under supervision, with decision-making and independent judgment. The selected candidate will oversee payroll operational functions, including:

  1. Completing payroll summaries and reconciliations for biweekly and supplemental payrolls.
  2. Coordinating with the Office of Payroll Administration (OPA) to collect biweekly paychecks.
  3. Distributing paychecks, stubs, and related materials to employees and divisions, and collecting agency property.
  4. Reviewing reports such as 160 and 161, and managing employee approval/holds.
  5. Performing pay audits, correcting overpayments, and managing deductions and stop/reversal payments.
  6. Supervising payroll clerks to ensure accurate processing of employee separation and check adjustments.
  7. Handling special payments like lumpsums, reimbursements, and fees.
  8. Coordinating with NYC OPA to issue payments to beneficiaries of deceased employees.
  9. Assisting with processing various payroll-related applications and verifications.
  10. Supporting the Chief of Payroll and Timekeeping with managerial payments and approvals.
  11. Participating in special projects and responding to payroll inquiries.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent approved by a recognized authority, plus at least one year of satisfactory clerical experience.

Skills Requirements

Keyboard proficiency with a minimum of 100 keystrokes per minute.

Preferred Skills

Current certification as a Clerical Associate or active on the Clerical Associate list; strong leadership and communication skills; familiarity with NYC HR systems like NYCAPS, PI, PMS, and CHRMS.

Salary Range

$45,040.00 - $70,704.00 annually.
